Donate Your Zakat is a Lifeline for the vulnerable poor and the needy in Africa

International Islamic Youth League IIYL is launching a new campaign to collect Zakat, a charitable contribution that is mandatory for Muslims who meet certain criteria. This is an opportunity for you to fulfill your Zakat obligation and support those in need through International Islamic Youth League IIYL programs and services. Your Zakat donation can make a real difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

International Islamic Youth League IIYL aims to emphasize the importance of Zakat (obligatory almsgiving) and its payment, as well as to instil its concept as a charity mandated by Allah for Muslims to pay annually from their wealth and possessions. This is to be distributed to its rightful recipients through designated Islamic financial institutions. When wealth reaches the specified threshold and a year has passed since its acquisition, its owner is obligated to pay Zakat, which is set at 2.5% of the total wealth

Every dollar you give will provide emergency food and cash assistance to Refugee families in Africa. By giving your Zakat today, you’re ensuring that 100% of your donation reaches the families who need it most, providing them with immediate relief and a chance to live in dignity.

Zakat is a duty upon every able Muslim. It can be one of the most powerful things a Muslim can give. With the ability to transform entire communities, lifting people out of poverty, Zakat has the power to change lives. It is a system that looks after those in need-an obligation upon us, but a right for our beneficiaries. For orphans, widows and displaced families, it is a much-needed lifeline. On the Day of Judgement, it will be a lifeline for us, inshallah. Tomorrow isn’t promised and neither is Ramadan. Don’t delay in fulfilling your obligation during the Holy month. Give your Zakat Al Mal now.

Zakat al mal is a significant religious duty imposed to purify the soul and increase wealth, and it plays a vital role in strengthening the bonds and unity among Muslims, as essential as prayer, which is mentioned alongside it in the Quran.

Is It Permissible to Distribute Zakat Al Mal to Relatives?

Yes, Islam allows the distribution of zakat to needy relatives such as a poor brother, uncle, or maternal uncle, wherein the giver is rewarded doubly. This is based on the saying of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, “Charity to the poor is just charity.

Who Receives Zakat?

Zakat Al Mal is an obligatory charity ordained by Allah for those who can afford to give it. Muslims pay their Zakat Al Mal every year, as a right for the poor, needy and vulnerable. This is the third pillar of Islam and established by our beloved Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).

Muslims pay Zakat Al Mal according to 8 categories established in the Quran in Surah Al-Tawbah, 9.60

Those who are in poverty

Those who are needy

Those whose hearts are to be reconciled

Those to be freed from captivity and slavery

Those who are in debt

Those who strive in the cause of Allah

Those stranded on their journey

Those administering the distribution of Zakat

Why should you pay your Zakat Al Mal?

By paying your Zakat Al Mal, you will be fulfilling your religious obligation. This is the same as praying your Salah or believing in Allah. It is a commandment upon us and one of the five pillars of Islam. When you give your Zakat Al Mal, Allah purifies your wealth, cleanses your sins, blesses you with His bounty on this earth and the hereafter. Zakat Al Mal is a form of worship to Allah. On the Day of Judgement, when you are questioned about your Zakat Al Mal, the answer will be a resounding yes. Every person you helped with your Zakat Al Mal will testify for you.

On this earth, the Zakat Al Mal you pay is not yours, but a right of the beneficiary who receives it. It will go towards transforming their lives, lifting them out of poverty, helping them get closer to Allah, reconciling distressed hearts, all for the sake of pleasing Allah. Zakat can actually transform entire communities.
