Digging 100 new water wells in Ghana and Sierra Leone offers extensive benefits across health, economic, social, and environmental sectors, particularly for rural communities. The wells reduce diseases, boost economic productivity, empower women and girls, and help communities adapt to climate change

Currently, two-thirds of Ghana and Sierra Leone population struggles without access to safe water, yet, thanks to your extraordinary support, we’re building water pumps and digging Borehole water wells in Africa every day. Your donations help us install water pumps, dig Borehole water wells and construct water filtration plants ensuring poor communities have access to clean drinking water in Ghana and Sierra Leone.

International Islamic Youth League is an International NGO with 30 years’ experience in humanities and disaster response, refugee, returnees and internally displaced people protection care and maintenance and sustainable development with the necessary expertise and resources to save lives and human capital building. in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Mali, Chad, Gambia, Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Uganda, Sudan and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Our project aims is to reduce waterborne illnesses: Access to clean, safe drinking water from protected wells prevents diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery that result from drinking contaminated surface water. This significantly lowers the burden on local healthcare facilities and reduces healthcare costs for families.
Decreases child mortality: By lowering the incidence of diarrheal and other waterborne diseases, clean water access helps reduce the high rate of child mortality in deprived communities.
Promotes education: By drastically reducing the time spent fetching water, girls who are often kept out of school for this task can attend classes regularly with better health, all children can focus on their studies without interruption, some of the communities that will be benefitting from this project still have no access to any source of drinking water, making the added value total. Others do have a well, but are highly populated (with between 800 and 1,000 inhabitants) and one well is not enough to provide all of them with the 20 litres per person required for drinking and cooking food every day. Additionally, the communities will be trained to maintain and repair the wells, thus bolstering their skill set and making the project sustainable.
- We will be ensuring care is provided to those who most need it, as well as their participation in the project, with a mapping of the communities and dissemination.
- We will detect the best water sources, using topographical maps and hydrological research techniques.
- We will bore and fit out 100 drilling borehole water wells.
- We will ensure the quality of the supply, with a pumping test and water quality tests.
- We will install hand pumps and protect the wells in accordance with WHO standards.
- We will train the communities in the maintenance and upkeep of the well
- We will ensure donor names will be posted in the water well needed
- Digging a Drilling Borehole Water well with Hand Pump cost up to (USD 6290), a well will provide support to 1000 vulnerable and poor.

The project’s direct impact will be an improvement in the wellbeing—especially the health—of 100,000 thousand people. The project will provide year-round access to drinking water, and its impact will go beyond the supply of this vital resource, improving health, particularly that of children, reducing diseases caused by the use of unsafe water, and nutrition, allowing children to take better advantage of their education and parents to perform better in their daily life. What’s more, the time spent by the population (normally its women and children) on fetching water, will be cut drastically, giving them the chance to study or carry out other tasks, not to mention reducing the risks they face in having to leave their communities in search of water during the dry season
