Help Deliver Emergency Food Assistance to Displaced Families in Mali

Mali is experiencing a deepening humanitarian crisis driven by prolonged insecurity, population displacement, rising food prices, disrupted livelihoods and recurring climate shocks.

Approximately 1.6 million people face acute food insecurity, while about 414,500 people are internally displaced. An estimated 1.6 million children under five are at risk of acute malnutrition, according to the World Food Programme.

Thousands of displaced families have lost their homes, livelihoods and access to reliable sources of food. Vulnerable host communities are also sharing their already limited resources with newly displaced families.

The International Islamic Youth League (IIYL) is launching an urgent humanitarian campaign to provide complete family food packs and essential emergency assistance to internally displaced people and vulnerable host communities in Mali.

Families Urgently Need Food Assistance

Conflict and insecurity have disrupted farming, livestock production, markets and essential supply routes across northern and central Mali. Rising food and fuel prices have made basic necessities unaffordable for many vulnerable households.

Displaced mothers, children, older people and persons with disabilities face particularly serious risks. Many families have arrived in host communities and displacement locations without sufficient food, clean water, shelter or essential household supplies.

Without immediate humanitarian assistance, hunger and malnutrition will continue to worsen.

IIYL’s Emergency Response

Through this campaign, IIYL aims to support vulnerable families with complete food packs containing essential household staples such as:

Rice
Flour or maize meal
Beans and other pulses
Cooking oil
Sugar
Salt
Canned food
Other locally appropriate essential food items

Where resources permit, IIYL will also provide clean water, hygiene materials and other emergency relief supplies based on assessed community needs.

Priority will be given to:

Internally displaced families
Women and children
Older people
Persons with disabilities
Female-headed households
Families experiencing severe food insecurity
Vulnerable host communities supporting displaced people
