During recent general needs assessment conducted by the International Islamic Youth League in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Sanitation the Ministry of Energy and Power in the East South and Northern Region of Sierra Leone, it was discovered that people of this region are faced with a serious drinking water problem. This is as a result of lack of the either pip-born water or protected water wells within the region. This region among others suffered serious infrastructural destruction as a result of the ended 11 years civil war in the Country. The total population of this region is estimated as 1,534,678 people, 35 % of which are children and 30 % women. The regions according to the result of the survey has been suffering a number of intermittent outbreak of water borne diseases like cholera, diarrhea etc., hence the people greatly depend on streams water. This project is therefore seeking from various donors to support water and sanitation to support hand pump water and sanitation to the affected community in Sierra Leone Please note that to construct one standard hand pump water well is cost up to US Dollars $ 6,290 and each well benefited 3,000 poor and the needy community, we will construct water well in the name of donor and duration for the construction is six weeks we are requesting 240 wells.
