Since December 2013, thousands of CAR refugees and Chadians have sought asylum in or returned to Chad. As of 15 June 2014, 17,585 refugees have been registered. It is projected that 45,000 refugees would have sought asylum in Chad by the end of the year 2014. Close to 60 per cent of the newly-arrived refugees are children of whom 20 per cent are below five years of age. Refugees arrive in Chad in very vulnerable conditions, malnourished, dehydrated and traumatized. To respond to the humanitarian needs of the above groups, all partners in Chad work closely together. UNHCR, in collaboration with the Government of Chad, leads the responses for refugees and Chadians without family links, which are at risk of statelessness. New refugees are temporarily settled in transit centers or existing camps. Dosseye is one of the existing camps. It accommodates 5,000 new refugees who will be relocated to Dohollo new camp that has just been allocated by the government. With the support of the government, UNHCR is also implementing a new strategy which favors the settlement of refugees in host villages as an alternative to camps. Efforts have continued in that direction for the new CAR refugees and Chadians without family links, with some of them being settled in host villages. Both in the new camp and in host villages, new refugees have to be provided with a multi-sector assistance in the areas of protection, health, water, sanitation, hygiene, education and livelihood. The Islamic Development Bank in partnership with the International Islamic Youth League currently constructing new refugees camp in Doholo include Mobile health center, primary Schools, darling Borehole water wells, and provision of agricultural support to refugees families the project is ongoing hope to complete
